My Henna for Hair Experience..
Hello guys;
Yes! All you can think about while saying Henna is the red/copper permanent color on hair, and it is all true. It is very rare and hard to change the color of the henna, especially on white/grey hair.
Yes it is permanent and you can not chemically dye your hair after your henna color/treatment.
However, luckily after so many researches and experiments, I got the finest results I believe anyone could get. I have few pre-mature white hairs, considering that my natural hair color is mochaccino brown, those greys pop out like stars LOL! I did not want to dye my hair at young age. I did not want to expose it to damage since now. This is when I started looking for henna.
What is the best henna type/product?
Yemeni Henna is the best henna. It is well processed and packed. It is rich in color too.
Indian Henna is of high quality too, and richer in red tones.
What is the color of henna powder?
Good henna should be bright green with grass smell to it. After all it is a herb. Any brown henna is powder is not pure henna. Many dying ingredients could be added to it to produce the brown color.
Who should use Henna?
Anyone. Henna is considered too as treatment for the hair. Since in coats the hair with shine and does not penetrate to the core of the hair and cause damage as in the case for chemical dye.
However, I think blond people should take a step back when it comes to henna-ing their hair as it will turn bright orange shade.
How to use henna as treatment only with no color?
Reduce the time you wear the henna mask to 1 hour only. This way you will get the henna benefits with the minimum color. (you still can't dye your hair after henna treatment)
How to use henna as hair color?
wear the henna mask for at 4-6 hours, covering your hair in plastic shower cap. Henna needs warmth to release its dye to the hair.
Does henna dry the hair?
YES, always add your favorite oil to the henna mixture before applying it to the hair. It is preferable also to put some oil on your hair ends and then apply henna (without washing the oil) ti reduce dryness caused to your hair ends.
How to reduce the red/copper tint in henna?
Mix the henna powder with black tea water( 2 table spoons for 1 cup of water)
Add Brewed coffee to the mixture.
Add Amla powder
These steps may reduce the copper-ish tent, but they will not 100% remove it. You will get it sooner or later.
Should I use black henna?
Never! there is no black henna. There is this herb which gives darker color to henna called "KATAM". This herb should be added to the henna mixture for brown color or after the henna, directly on the hair for black color. However there is no black henna by its own. Also note that "KATAM" color is permanent.
When can I dye my hair after henna?
after a year. You need a year minimum from your last henna treatment to get rid of henna from your hair to a point where you can chemically dye your hair.
please note hair types are different, some hair may need more time for the henna to be removed completely.
How to remove henna from hair?
Heavy oil mask. Olive oil, coconut oil or almond oil hair masks are the only way to release henna out of your hair. It needs multiple times. But I assure you it removes henna completely.
Do I recommend henna?
Totally! if you are a person who does not intend to do hair dying for almost a year. I believe you could use the benefits of henna. Shiny, very smooth hair, strong ends, fresh scalp and voluminous hair are all the magical henna benefits.
I hope you found this blog useful.
Until Next time..
